The Custom 300 by Ford was built for a short couple years, from 1957-1959. The Custom would be the bottom rung model with the Custom 300 being a step up but sitting below the Fairlane and Fairlane 500 models. It was intended for a value-conscious customer and at times would be the first time that a second car was added to the home. This is a good story though....This particular 300 Custom we are happy to present is a single family owned vehicle from day 1. The current consignor of this vehicle has owned it since he was sixteen years old. He purchased it from his Aunt that bought the car brand new at Duthler Ford in Grand Rapids, MI. The color combination was the way it was born, however believe the Bronze was a little darker and less metallic. A couple years would go by and the seller at the time was headed off to College to attend Ferris State and study Automotive body and paint. This would be mid 1970's where he took the car and painted it. That was 45 years ago. Still has the original interior and drivetrain. The car runs excellent, with the turn of the key, it starts on a dime, shifts nicely, steers good and brakes good too. This 300 is not going to win any beauty contests but it has a cool story. There is some surface rust and bubbling happening in the paint and the underside is a little scaly, but overall this is a great little driver or would make an excellent sleeper with a big block. The car has the original window sticker, purchase agreement and owners manual along with some old service records. The car has been largely owner mechanically maintained for the last fifty years. This is great car to get in to the collector car hobby.
