    Description

    Vehicle Details
We are paring down our collection and parting with our beloved Ford Granada. We have had this car since 2015--a sought after purchase to remind us of the one we had in the late 1970s.During the past six years it has provided over 30,000 miles of enjoyable evening cruises and occasional trips with the car club we belong to. We bought the car from the nephew of the original owner. According to the nephew the car was in California until the aunt's death. He stated the car was a D.S.O.--a dealer special order, that included well-optioned Ghia trim, code 9D polar white, with a white vinyl roof, the seldom seen factory white lacy spoke wheel option and the burgundy leather interior. It has several luxury décor and Ghia options including the 302 V8, the somewhat rare Kelsey Hayes four-wheel disc brakes, air conditioning, cruise control, power seat, power windows and locks, tilt wheel, 8-track stereo, cornering lamps, interior lighting group with illuminated entry, deep-pile carpeting etc. Of note, the door trip and stainless pull handles are particular to the Ghia and are similar to those in the Lincoln Versailles. The white lacy spokes are in good shape with no curb rash. We had new white wall tires put on after pulling it out of storage this spring--with less than 200 miles on them. We were told the paint is original to the car and it shines to a very good luster. Likewise the top is in good shape and it appears the car was always garaged. The body is rust free and straight with the exception of the driver's door which has a dent below the side molding. The interior leather and carpet is in very good condition with the driver's seat leather showing some wear on the bolster and the outside of the seat bottom. We were told the car was always maintained by the aunt. During our ownership, per our mechanic's advisement, he went through and did preventative maintenance for the typical 1970s Ford 302 "bugs". He replaced the plastic coated timing gear with a new gear and chain set, replaced the oil pump, did the intake and exhaust valve seals, etc. While he was at it he did a water and fuel pump and replaced the belts and hoses. Within the last 10K miles the rear brake calipers, rotors and pads were replaced, as was the master brake cylinder and front brake hoses. The power steering sector was leaking at a valve and that was recently replaced, as was the right front wheel bearing. Over the years we have had two 1970s Ford "Ghia" optioned cars--the other a Silver Edition Luxury Décor Optioned Mustang II-- and absolutely love the added details and options that were provided to make these cars look and feel different than their more pedestrian counterparts. If you're looking for a nice Granada, you'll be hard pressed to find one with all the bells and whistles like this car.
