    Description

    1860's, Civil War Era style reproduction hat in extra fine natural straw.
    The oval shaped hat is 13 1/2"  wide and 14 1/4" long. It is made of narrow rows of very fine woven straw. It has a short 3" crown and a wide brim which is 3 1/2". It is decorated with a natural straw band with a bow made of the same straw ribbon at the back of the hat.  It is decorated with sprays of pink painted wooden grapes and tiny pink fabric morning glories and natural looking green fabric leaves.  There is a dainty beige embroidered lace butterfly attached to the back ribbon. There are no tags or maker's marks on the hat.
    This is a new hat,  and has never been used.
    Such hats were popular with younger ladies and children for "the seaside" and outdoor wear.
